Orkney boats were founded in 1973 and are based in the heart of West Sussex near to Chichester harbour. The small craft are recognisable with their distinguished classic lines. The original designs for the Longliner were based on a beach launched fishing vessel from the Orkneys, hence the name. The area was renowned for trying sea conditions and the early designs proved the point. The company have never stood still and moved onto planing versions of the original design and now build up to 27ft pilot house versions. To date Orkney boats have built more than 13,000 boats.
