This was the first of the range of John Maxham designed fast cruisers. The advanced hull with its deep V and concave chines create stabilising rails when the boat is cruising at high speeds. Three models of this boat were based on the same hull. The most popular the Sapphire was an open plan design featuring four berths, the five berth version having a quarter berth stretching under the cockpit seat. The small aft cockpit has a helm shelter. The Opal has a large cockpit and smaller 2 berth cabin. The Coral is somewhere between the other two in design. Most boats were petrol inboards with outdrives.
