Springer were an engineering fabricator based in Market Harborough in the Midlands. The company was founded in 1952 by Sam Springer who built steel cylinder.. On the late 60,s Sam had the vision to fabricate value for money narrow boats. The company produced compact 20ft ncraft right up to some quite large wide beam boats. At one stage wre building 300 boats a year and held 40% of the narrow boat market. The company was taken over latterly by Carol and Steve Green. The company ceased trading around the mid 90,s. They even made the famous bottle boat which was sailed across the Atlantic in 1990 by Tom McClean.
