Sea Otter Boat Information
Sea Otter were a family owned business founded by the Hobson family in Staveley Derbyshire. The company started in the mid 90's bringing a new concept to the narrow boat market by building the craft in marine grade B5083 aluminium. The main advantage over traditional steel narrow boats was weight saving and corrosion resistance. The smaller craft up to 25ft were designed to be easily transported to different waterways. The hull shape was v shaped and water ballast was added once the craft were launched. The main downside of the Sea Otter boats were that the build costs were were high and the demand for a premium product boat was too low in 2014. The company went into liquidation after Walton Marine cancelled their stock orders.
